How to treat symptoms with Ayurveda cystitis treatment

Turmeric, Ayurveda & Cystitis

A few days ago I woke up in the middle of the night with excruciating pain which I quickly recognised as the onset of cystitis.  It’s a horrible way to wake up and as my husband is a light sleeper, I didn’t want to start turning on my computer to Google ‘Ayurveda cystitis treatment’, which was always going to be my preferred method of choice.  So after drinking a tall glass of water, I racked my brain and tried to figure it out without Google’s help, wondering how could I treat the cystitis symptoms with the Ayurvedic herbs I had in stock.  I was sure that there was an Ayurveda cystitis treatment and that I wouldn’t need to go to the NHS seeking synthetic antibiotics.  I knew copious amounts of water would definitely help to get rid of the cystitis symptoms but what else could I be doing to ensure it wouldn’t develop into a urinary tract infection (UTI) or worse?

Ayurveda Cystitis Treatment

In my mind’s eye I went through the herbs I take twice daily for properties that would suit as a treatment.  I knew it needed a natural antibiotic which led me to turmeric.  Turmeric’s properties are wonderful antibacterials and so by the morning I had settled on Ojas (Ayushakti brand name), which contains turmeric extracts such as Curcuma long rhizome and Curcuma zedoaria roots, among others.  I tripled the usual daily dose and within a day my symptoms rapidly disappeared and I returned to my usual chirpy self.

I can’t help but wonder why these natural remedies aren’t better known.  I have since Googled ‘Curcumin and Cystitis’ and Google has come up with some references for Cystitis and UTI but not as many as I would have thought would appear by googling Ayurveda cystitis treatment.  Hopefully more people will blog about their experience.

Yet again I am in awe of Ayurveda and how the more one is in the mindset to search for Ayurvedic remedies, the more one instinctively knows what to take in order to resolve or cure symptoms.  In this case, I am left in no doubt that treating the cystitis the Ayurvedic way, using extracts of turmeric, rapidly resolved its unpleasant, painful symptoms.
